Camino del Cerro Eguzquiza: Works and Urban Development in Maldonado

Camino del Cerro Eguzquiza is key in Maldonado. Learn about its works, services, neighborhoods and residential projects driving its development.

Camino del Cerro Eguzquiza - La Barra
El comienzo del Camino está ubicado en El Tesoro, pegado a La Barra.

Camino del Cerro Eguzquiza has become one of the most important roads in eastern Maldonado. It links La Barra with Route 39, connecting the coastal area with the interior and offering an alternative route that eases mobility and access to numerous developments. It is about 19 kilometers long and crosses areas in the midst of urban expansion.

Along this road are important educational centers such as two public schools, the The New School and the Blue Blue Elefante nursery school, as well as new residential projects and private neighborhoods that choose this corridor as a strategic location. Among them stand out Puerto Quetzal neighborhood, the Hotel Fasano and Estancia Agua Verde, landmarks of the real estate and tourism transformation the area is undergoing.

The Maldonado municipal government is currently carrying out paving, curbing, lighting and access improvement works on Camino Eguzquiza, with sections covering more than 2.5 kilometers. These works aim to support the growth of the area, increase road safety and prepare the infrastructure for population growth.

A bypass is also planned that will connect La Barra bridge with Camino Eguzquiza and Route 104. This new route will include roundabouts, bike lanes and sidewalks, with the aim of relieving congestion in central La Barra and improving flow toward Manantiales and José Ignacio.

Camino del Cerro Eguzquiza is no longer just a connecting route: it is consolidating as an axis of urban and residential development, bringing together educational, tourism and housing projects that reinforce its strategic role in Maldonado’s growth.
